Felizenthal lay in a valley on the edge of the Carpathian Mountains in Galicia and was surrounded by wooded ridges. The village got its name from its landlord Karl von Seif, who named the municipalities of Felizienthal, Karlsdorf, and Annaberg after members of his family.

Felizenthal was settled between 1833-1835 by families recruited from the Bohemian Forest and the Egerland. Promises made to the hopeful immigrants did not match the reality. The immigrants who came by horse-drawn carriage or sleigh had to work hard to ensure their survival. Forest had to be cleared to make the land arable. Many did not survive these difficult first days or went back to their old homeland.

Prior to 1939, the village of Felizenthal consisted of a single street with about 170 houses and yards. The village had its own rectory which was constructed about 1848 and a wooden church was built in 1860. The villages around Felizenthal had smaller chapels. Opposite the church was the schoolhouse, which was slightly larger than the other houses, where the teacher lived with his family. In 1939, the community with the surrounding settlements had approx. 1500-2000 inhabitants.

In 1940 the inhabitants of Felizenthal were resettled. The community is now known as the Ukrainian village of Dolynivka.
